Powered by industrial’s latest graphical library, the premier graphing and charting capabilities of DataScene make it stand out in competition with similar products on the market in terms of graph variety, quality, and flexibility.
Variety of Graph Types
DataScene supports 39 types of 2D & 3D graphs and charts (or series in DataScene’s language), which include graphs and charts commonly used in:
- Business, such as Bar, Area, Pie, Line, Bubble, etc.
- Science and engineering, such as Surface, Contour, ColorGrid, Polar, Vector, Smith, etc.
- Finance, such as Candle, Volume, Point & Figure, etc.
- Statistics, such as BoxPlot, Histogram, Error, High-Low, etc.
Quality and Flexibility
All DataScene graphs and charts support a wide variety of graphical elements: transparent color, color gradient, auto color darkening, solid brush, gradient brush, image brush, hatch brush with 56 textures, visual aspect settings, shadow, and many more. Effective use of these elements makes DataScene graphs and charts look very vivid and beautiful. See the gallery for samples.
Customization of graphical properties of graphs and charts is made extremely easy through the common interface of the Series Editor and the graph tools on the ToolBox.
Feature-rich Axes, Legend, Marks, and Annotations
DataScene graphs and charts have very flexible and feature-rich axes and legends. DataScene axes support inversion, logarithmic scales, auto and manual scaling, tick and title customizations, date/time format, and custom formatting of the labels. DataScene legend allows the user to easily customize very of its elements: legend symbol, title, frame, shadow, label style, and position.
Graph marks are used in DataScene to mark individual data point with a custom label and arrow. Rich text annotations can be added to any location on the graph using the Text Tool, which provides the user with a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editor to edit and format the annotation text.
Themes
DataScene offers 16 built-in graph themes for the user to choose to apply to his/her graphs and charts. The user can also load theme from a custom theme file.
Easy Data and Graph Exchange
DataScene’s powerful data importing module imports all kinds of text data, either delimited or with fixed-width columns. The user can specify any delimiters, the number of headers to skip, or have DataScene to auto detect and skip headers. DataScene can also read data stored in Microsoft® Excel files even on machines where Excel is not installed.
DataScene exports graphs and charts to different file formats that can be used by other graph and image processing software: memory Bitmap, Bitmap, Windows Enhanced Metafile (EMF), JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, Postscript, and PDF.
Ease of Use
DataScene comes with a user friendly Wizard, as well as tutorials and context-sensitive help. With the Wizard, it takes only one or two minutes for a new user to learn to create his/her first graph with DataScene.
